Choose your eggs right!

First of all, choose your egg right!

Well, if you are a UK Citizen that should be easy enough.

  1. Decide what animal egg you want to buy
  2. Go to a food/grocery shop
  3. Look for free-range eggs, see HERE my previous post about it
  4. Make sure your eggs have the British Lion printed on it
  5. Check the best before date

So, just few words, as I think we really deserve a special mention to the British Lion Eggs. The main safety labelling in UK for eggs safety, yes it’s a thing! So, they ensure that all the hens in their scheme, have been vaccinated against Salmonella.

Salmonella is a bacteria that normally lives in intestinal tract of birds, and therefore can be found in feces. Obviously, when eggs are collected and picked up from the floor, they can be contaminated if the hens are not vaccinate. Salmonella causes diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps and can last up to 7 days, causing also hospitalisation and in the worst cases death.

So, here the British Lion mark explained:
